ENGINEERING A NEW IDENTITY
CLIENT: SPENSLEY ENGINEERING
Spensley Engineering are a mechanical engineering firm headed up by William Spensley.
William required an identity for his personal brand that would position his services as the premium options and to fit perfectly in with the corporate world of million pound tenders.
The assets needed were a logo and branding for all stationary, collateral and business cards, as well as a clear and consistent colour palette that works across all mediums.
Rather than the obvious and slightly mundane greys and blacks typically associated with engineering, a more uncommon mix of blue and orange was selected. This helps give the brand a much more powerful and unique identity whilst still retaining a feeling of reliability, strength and professonalism suitable for the industy.
The bold and unique colour palette did a lot of the work in helping make the logo stand out. One of the important aspects of the brand was to connote strength, reliability and trust. A sans-serif typeface – Acherus Grotesque – was an ideal match. This has a nice angular look which is an ideal match for the industry.
The type was matched with the symmetrical cog symbols to provide an immediately recognisable indicator of both mechanical and engineering.
